They are chained to the floor with their heads only facing one wall, therefore they are unable to see what is behind them. Though this is an allegory because the cave represents life and the puppeteers behind he prisoners making shadows represents reality. The hidden meaning of the allegory stems from the idea that the prisoners have a misinterpreted idea of reality. They only see the shadows and reflections that the puppeteers are making therefore they believe that is life. Once they turn around and it is revealed that those were puppeteers the whole time, they are extremely shocked. It shows us that our perception of reality and what we see around us is false. Our imperfect interpretations of reality may not always be what they seem, sometimes we are viewing what we want to view, seeing what our mind want’s us to see, rather that seeing the true reality. I found the allegory to be very interesting and morally informative. I do agree with the ideas it expresses to the extent that it makes a person revisit how they perceive the world around them and the true meaning of reality. I do not believe it should go as far as to change your mindset to question whether you are viewing a true reality or just a mental paradox. Though overall I believe I learned a lot from his allegory and despite the difficulty, thoroughly enjoyed reading it.

Specific Aim: The purpose of this research study is to determine the effect of increasing sound exposure (the intensity and frequency) on (1) the growth rate and (2) the survival of the Pacific oyster, Crassostrea gigas. Hypothesis: The working hypothesis is that increasing the intensity and frequency of sound exposure will cause a corresponding increase in the growth rate and survival of the oysters until a high level of sound intensity and frequency. Further, increasing the frequen cy and intensity of sound beyond that point will lead to either no further increase in growth, or cause a damaging effect and slow down their growth rate, or cause oysters to die. This study will be carried out by using oysters from an oyster farm. There will be 2 experiments involved, one will use oyster eggs and the other will use newly-formed larvae. This would be an experimental study using 6 groups of oyster eggs and larvae: 5 groups of eggs will be exposed to sound vibrations of increasing intensities and frequencies as follow: (1) 25 dB and 200 Hz, (2) 50 dB and 400 Hz, (3)75 dB and 600 Hz, (4)100 dB and 800 Hz, and (5)125 dB and 1000 Hz. Subsequently, Tom is killed while trying to escape prison. After being humiliated during the trial, Bob vowed revenge on Atticus.
